Why Think Like A Beast?

Part of the problem facing home and business owners is that, for the most part, one cannot go to a local store or nursery and buy products that will help.  Sprays, motion detectors, spark-emitting posts, sprinklers, and other potential remedies all have limited applications or effectiveness.  Eight to ten foot fences are usually not practical or desirable.  Many people do not have easy access to ranch supply stores where posts and fencing items can be purchased; still, who wants to buy a 150-foot roll of fencing to protect just two fledgling trees?

The purpose of ThinkLikeABeast.com is to grow trees.  Also, we seek to share and promote the metal cylinder protection method and to distribute supplies for growing and protecting trees.  In the local/Denver area we also provide installation services.

What is happening with deer and elk?

It is a growing, widespread situation without simple solutions.  Governments, the only organizations with the breadth and authority to control it, are usually better characterized as part of the problem rather than the solution.

In our urban, suburban, and even rural communities, these are animals whose populations and proclivities need to be managed.  To say their profusion is natural and they were here first is not accurate.  The populations are increasing rapidly due to the myriad influences of suburban growth, loss of predators, laws protecting them, the proliferation of ornamental plantings, etc.  Residents and business owners in areas where the animals thrive are faced with habitat destruction, vehicle collisions, and other problems; those in other areas are either indifferent to the problem or encourage proliferation for reasons such as wildlife viewing, hunting, and government cost cutting.
